The AEA Silver Dart, researched and built by the Aerial Experiment Association (AEA) under Alexander Graham Bell's tutelage in 1908.
Taken from Canadian Forces page on the Silver Dart in accordance with their copyright policy and uploaded for use in that article by me. - Lommer 23:01, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Note that although the aircraft was demonstrated to the Canadian Army in 1909, it was never purchased, nor were similar aircraft every ordered for their armies by the Canadian or U.S. governments. Thus it was a civilian aircraft, and it can not be considered a 'military' aircraft in any sense.
This image is also almost 100 years old (taken 1909) and therefore qualifies as a public domain image. However, it is listed as copyrighted on the Canadian Forces site and so I have tagged it under that licence.
